This challenging project was to develop a scheme and lead the team to re-clad a 7 storey modern hotel building in Birmingham City Centre. The project included replacing supporting structures and fire barriers across the entire building façade. The approach was to tackle the project in phases with initial investigations and design development undertaken under a PCSA with a main contractor. Design responsibilities and fire engineering was clearly defined and strict quality control and cataloguing of replacement fire resistant elements was critical to ensuring the project brief was met and external third parties satisfied including what was then the Ministry of Housing & Communities & Local Government together with the HSE and fire authority.
